Awasome Scrivener Copy Template To Another Project. Delete the old novel (in the duplicate) and just preserve the new novel, complete with layout formatting, etc. Another option would be to use the file > import > scrivener project… command if you’d prefer.

In order for you to use a scrivener template, you actually have to import the file. What you want to do is set up a new project exactly how you want it to always be created, either from scratch or by modifying another one, and when you're all ready, use the file/save as. But can also use file >save as to create a copy of current project with all your settings.
